VICE PRESIDENT, COMMUNICATIONS
Consumer Specialty Products Association is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as an integral member of our senior management team as the Vice President of Communications.

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Communications will be responsible for leading CSPA′s external and member communications programs. The VP of Communications will directly manage all communication activities that promote and enhance the Association′s brand and will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the Association and its leadership. The VP of Communications will be responsible for the Association′s varied communications products and services including member communications, print publications, web and other online communications; traditional and social media; public relations; and marketing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position include overseeing communications to the CSPA Board and membership; communications advocacy on key public policy issues related to federal and state regulations; creating media relations strategies on policy initiatives; speech development and writing for the Chairman and the President of the Association; providing consultation and support to CSPA affiliate groups and divisions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor′s degree in journalism, communications, or related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years experience in the communications field; senior management experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience with advocacy communications on public policy matters including congressional legislation and government regulations.
• Minimum 5 years experience with planning, writing, editing, and producing a variety of print and online communications media, including press releases, marketing material, and annual reports.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The ideal candidate for the position of Vice President, Communications, will possess the following skills and abilities:
• Demonstrated skills in managing and leading a comprehensive strategic communications, traditional and social media relations, and marketing program to advance the Association′s mission and goals.
• Demonstrated project management skills to include research, budgeting, and vendor selection.
• Demonstrated skills in message development and ability to produce effective, accurate, and concise written products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and produce measurable results in line with strategic objectives.
• Ability to represent CSPA as a spokesperson through a variety of media, including press conferences.
• Ability to speak with a variety of audiences in various settings.
• Ability to maintain and enhance relationships with national and local media contacts, including television, radio, print, and social media.
• Ability to work extended hours in the period prior to and during a meeting or convention.
• Ability to interact with staff members, association members, and Board of Directors in a polished, professional manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly manage team members in the Communications Department, as well as manage outside consultants and vendors as needed.
