“We congratulate Scott Pruitt on his confirmation as EPA Administrator,” said Steve Caldeira, President and CEO of the Consumer Specialty Products Association.  “We look forward to working with him and the agency on several of the vital and successful programs that protect public health and the environment, facilitate product innovation by industry, and improve the quality of life for all Americans.”

Background

On January 24, 2017, Steve Caldeira wrote a letter to President Donald J. Trump, outlining CSPA’s priorities with EPA, which include implementation of the reformed Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), reauthorization of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA), and the continuation and expansion of the Safer Choice Program.  See Here

Additionally, on February 15, 2017, an op-ed piece by Steve Caldeira titled “What EPA Gets Right” appeared in The Hill.  The op-ed states that in most cases, EPA tends to get the balance right, that business has managed to thrive with common-sense regulation, and there is a need to find resources to protect the programs that Congress has devised with strong bipartisan support, especially when it comes to chemicals.
