EPA Director Announces Retirement

WASHINGTON, DC (December 21, 2009) Debbie Edwards, Director for the Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances (OPP) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, announced that after nearly 25 years with the agency she will be retiring. Edwards joined EPA in 1985 and will complete her tenure January 14.

“We have the upmost respect for Debbie Edwards and will miss working with her,” said Chris Cathcart, CSPA President. “She has been a true asset to EPA with an excellent eye for science and fairness to all stakeholders while keeping the goal of protecting the environment at the forefront of all she has done.”

Edwards has served as the Director of the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) since 2007 and earlier was the Director of the Special Review and Reregistration Division within OPP, among other positions.
