National Poison Prevention Week, a good time to remind consumers about product safety

As we observe National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW) we are reminding consumers about the safe and proper use of household consumer products:

  • Always read and follow label directions
  • Use the product as intended by the manufacturer
  • Store and dispose of the product according to package directions

It is especially important that families follow this guidance year-round to prevent accidental poisoning exposures, especially in households with children aged five and under, which is the most vulnerable age group.  These are very simple, common-sense things families should be doing while still being able to enjoy the many benefits of using household consumer products that keep their homes clean and help prevent the spread of germs that can cause disease.
