Trade publication Chemical Watch reports on the probability of two TSCA related bills being introduced this year; one from a Democratic sponsor, Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), and the other from a Republican sponsor, Senator David Vitter (R-LA). Industry trade groups were asked for comment. CSPA Director of Government Affairs Laura Madden was interviewed for this story.
From the article: The Consumer Specialty Products Association has had a “series of meetings” with groups like the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and Safer Chemicals Healthy Families coalition to “talk through our issues, specifically related to use reporting and confidential business information,” says Laura Madden, CSPA’s director of government affairs. The idea was to “find common ground” in those areas and provide them as recommendations to lawmakers, Ms Madden says. She says progress has been made although “we haven’t worked through all of the issues we have been talking about.”
