CSPA Senior VP and General Counsel Steve Kellner to Retire
WASHINGTON, DC (May 2, 2007) – Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) Senior Vice President and General Counsel Steve Kellner announced plans to retire May 31 after more than 33 years with the Association.
Kellner is a recognized expert on pesticide regulation and registration issues and has worked extensively with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. During his tenure, he also worked closely with numerous other federal agencies including the Federal Trade Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
Kellner joined CSPA (then known as the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers Association) as Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs on April 14, 1974, shortly after the group moved to Washington, D.C. from New York City. He became Vice President of Legal Affairs in 1979 and was named Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 1998.
Kellner received his law degree from the American University Washington College of Law in 1967. Prior to joining CSPA, he was a federal regulatory attorney with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association.
“You would have to look long and hard to find anyone who has contributed as much to our industry as Steve Kellner,” said CSPA President Chris Cathcart. “He will be missed by everyone at CSPA and his many friends in the industry.”
Kellner will be honored at a special reception on May 9 during CSPA's Mid-Year Meeting in Chicago . Brigid Klein, formerly Assistant General Counsel, assumed the role of Vice President and General Counsel on February 15, at which time Kellner became Special Counsel to the President.
The Consumer Specialty Products Association is a non-profit national trade association representing approximately 260 companies engaged in the manufacture, formulation, distribution and sale of hundreds of familiar consumer products. It is organized into seven divisions: Aerosol Products, Air Care, Antimicrobial Products, Cleaning Products, Pest Management Products, Industrial and Automotive Specialty Chemicals, and Polishes and Floor Maintenance.
