CSPA Seeks Approval of Standards for Upcoming 9th Edition of Aerosol Guide
WASHINGTON, DC (August 27, 2009) – The Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) is currently seeking final approval of the CSPA Aerosol Guide 9th Edition. The Guide is the aerosol industry’scompendium of test methods and voluntary standards used by those engaged in the selling or filling of aerosol products or materials supply chain of the industry. The upcoming edition, to be published in electronic form on a compact disc in December, will be the latest update to the 8th edition published in 1997.
Inclusion of standards, guidelines and other documents in the Guide is a consensus process among CSPA member companies. A notice has been sent from CSPA to its members to begin the process. Should any document not reach consensus among the companies, that document would be withheld from the Guide and worked on further in order to reach consensus for inclusion in a future edition of the Guide.
The sections of the Guide have been developed over many years of efforts by various CSPA Aerosol Products Division Committees. The goal is to complete the committee approval process over the next six weeks and complete Division Executive Board approval by late October.
Any CSPA member can participate in the CSPA Aerosol Products Division working committees that participate in the development of the Guide. Additionally, any aerosol industry member can request to review specific documents proposed for inclusion; substantive concerns expressed by any CSPA or industry member will result in the document being brought back to committee for those concerns to be addressed. A draft copy of the Table of Contents has been developed for the Guide. Any questions should be directed to Doug Fratz at dfratz@cspa.org.
