CSPA Honors Earth Day with Commitment to Green Chemistry

WASHINGTON, DC (April 21, 2009) –  There is a lot of talk about “green,” but what does “green chemistry” mean for those companies engaged in the manufacture of consumer products that help household, institutional and industrial customers create cleaner and healthier environments? In honor of Earth Day, the Consumer Specialty Products Association, representing the makers of such products, is sharing its commitment to the development of green chemical technology.

“Our industry believes green chemistry should foster innovation and create important health, environmental, social and economic benefits,” said Chris Cathcart, CSPA President.  “Our members routinely apply green chemistry and green engineering principles in their operations.”

“As with all products, consumers should give equal weight to product safety, efficacy, ease-of-use, availability, disposal, life cycle analysis and cost when examining the environmental characteristics of any particular product,” Cathcart concluded.
